| The Dome at the State Capitol in Austin, Texas is a prominent architectural feature of the building that houses the legislative and executive branches of the government of the state of Texas. It is made of cast iron and is painted white. It is approximately 300 feet high, and its dome is the second largest in the United States, after the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. The interior of the dome features a rotunda, which is the central hall of the building and is open to the public. The rotunda is adorned with frescoes and mosaics that depict important scenes and figures from Texas history.
